Tearing up a slab and then pouring a new one is a costly fix that takes time to implement. Newly-poured concrete needs a certain amount of time to dry and harden. During that time, you can’t use the slab. Also, most slabs sink because the soil isn’t able to support them. If this is the case, the same thing will happen to the new slab.
Today, almost all uneven slabs are lifted via a technique known as polyurethane foam injection. The procedure usually takes no more than a few hours and involves drilling small holes in the slab (they’ll be filled later), and then using them to inject the polyurethane foam under the slab. The foam expands immediately and this is what lifts the slab. The foam will not leach harmful chemicals into the soil, so it’s an environmentally-friendly solution.
