Foundation Repair

You may be surprised to hear that most foundation problems are caused by water, either too much of it or not enough. If the soil around your home’s foundation is saturated with water, it can lead to soil erosion or soil expansion. Both will cause your foundation to move, and this could lead to structural damage. On the other hand, not enough water in the soil around your foundation is also a problem, and can lead to structural damage.

Concrete Leveling and Lifting

If you’ve got a sunken walkway, pool deck, driveway, or some other kind unlevel concrete slab, we don’t need to tell you they’re ugly. You already know. However, they’re more than just an eyesore. They’re also a trip hazard, and if you’ve ever tripped and fallen on an uneven slab, you already know this. If someone else trips, falls, and gets injured, you could find yourself facing a lawsuit. So, it’s not a repair you want to put on the back burner.
Traditionally, uneven concrete slabs were repaired either via a procedure called ‘’mudjacking’’, or via digging up the old slab and replacing it with a new one. Both these methods have problems though…
It’s very common for a concrete slab to sink because the soil under slab isn’t able to hold it up. Mudjacking involves drilling small holes in the slab and then injecting a slurry made up of soil, water, and cement, under the slab in order to lift it again. The problem with this method is the weight of the slurry. It’s heavy because it contains cement. If the soil wasn’t able to hold up the slab to begin with, adding more weight to it via a cement slurry isn’t going to help. In fact, the cement slurry could make it sink even more.
The other way sunken concrete slabs were traditionally repaired, was by digging up the sunken slab and pouring a new one. This fix is time-consuming and expensive though. When you pour fresh concrete you need to wait for it to dry and harden. So, there’s going to be some downtime before you can use the new slab. Also, if the soil wasn’t able to hold up the old slab, it won’t be able to hold up the new one either.
Today, most sunken concrete slabs are repaired using polyurethane foam injection. This is a minimally-invasive procedure that’s similar to mudjacking, but uses an extremely lightweight foam to lift the slab instead of a heavy cement slurry. It’s a quick repair – usually no more than 3 hours – and after the repair is done, you can immediately start using the slab again. It’s also a green solution because the polyurethane foam won’t leach into the soil.

Seawall Repair

Seawalls are highly effective at protecting your property from erosion, and form a barrier between land and water. However, they can erode over time due to variety of factors including extreme weather – hurricanes and tropical storms – tidal fluctuations, and a sea level that rises very slowly. If your seawall is starting to fail, contact us today and we’ll come out for an inspection and free estimate.
