Concrete Leveling and Lifting

If you’ve ever tripped over a sunken concrete slab, you know they’re a safety hazard and a liability. If someone gets injured on your property, you could even find yourself facing a lawsuit. Of course, unlevel concrete slabs such as sidewalks, pool decks, and driveways are also eyesores that can negatively affect property value.

The problem with ripping up a sunken slab and then pouring new concrete is that it’s an expensive, time-consuming fix. Whenever you pour new concrete you need to wait for it to dry and harden before you can use it. Therefore, replacing the slab is going to include some downtime where you won’t be able to use the slab.

Digging up and replacing a sidewalk – or any other concrete slab – is a time-consuming fix. When you pour new concrete, you need to wait for it to dry and harden. While you’re doing that, you can’t use the slab. It’s ‘’out of commission’’. Also, if the old slab was sinking because the soil under it was weak, and unable to support it, the same thing is going to happen with the new slab.
Mudjacking is a repair technique that involves injecting a slurry – made up of soil, water, and cement – under the slab in order to lift it back into position. The problem with this repair method is the weight of the slurry. It’s pretty heavy because it contains cement. If the soil under the slab was already struggling to support it, placing a cement slurry on top of it certainly isn’t going to help.
Today, most concrete slabs are lifted and leveled via polyurethane foam injection. This involves injecting a super lightweight polyurethane foam under the slab in order to raise it. It’s a quick, minimally-invasive procedure that usually only takes 2-3 hours, and as soon as the repair is complete, you can start using the slab again. It’s also an environmentally-friendly solution as the polyurethane foam will not leach into the soil.

Seawall Repair

Seawalls serve as a barrier between land and water, and protect Florida’s beachfront homes from erosion. However, seawalls themselves can erode over time. This is caused by tidal fluctuations, hurricanes and tropical storms, and a slowly rising sea level. If your seawall is starting to fail, contact us today and we’ll be out an inspection and free estimate.
